In 2002, Piriac sur Mer was awarded the “Petite Cité de Caractère” label. This label is given to atypical towns thanks to their geographical location, their small population or their history and heritage.
The town has been awarded this label for its architecture, which is reminiscent of Breton villages, and for the names given to streets and houses. It’s also a town of flowers and legends. This small town of character has even inspired two great writers: Alphonse Daudet and Émile Zola.
