The Mès salt marshes
Just 15 minutes south of Saint-Molf, you’ll find Guérande and its salt marshes. But these aren’t the only salt marshes to discover. From Saint-Molf, you can reach the salt marshes of the Bassin de Mès, covering some 140 hectares, where salt workers have been working for over 1,500 years, respecting the environment and the flora and fauna. The area is home to some 180 species of birds. The Bassin de Mès salt marshes are an integral part of the Bay of Guérande‘s heritage.

Brière Regional Nature Park
And let’s not forget the famous Parc Naturel Régional de la Brière, 50,000 hectares of protected area since 1970. Whether aboard a barge, by bike or on foot, you can discover many species of Breton flora and fauna. As part of the Bay of Guérande, you can’t miss the marshes and typical thatched-roof houses. And if you’re a fan of legend, head for the “sunken” Brière forest, a mythical place of mystery.

A preserved heritage: crosses and calvaries
Saint-Molf is a place steeped in history. And a place steeped in history means that you’re bound to come across numerous reminders of its past, including the many crosses and calvaries that form part of the town’s history. Indeed, it was part of the custom to have one’s own cross, notably for divine protection of the harvest. It’s impossible to date the crosses precisely, but you can see that some have been carved out of a menhir, proof that they may be very old.
