Hiking in Quimiac
Our Paradis L’Île de Kernodet campsite is ideally located for exploring the Guérande peninsula and the most beautiful seaside sites. While vacationing on this magnificent coast, you’ll be able to criss-cross the bocages and salt marshes thanks to numerous hiking trails, easily accessible from the Île de Kernodet campsite in Quimiac-Mesquer.

La Pointe de Merquel
The best way to discover Mesquer Bay is to follow the Pointe de Merquelhiking trail. Just over 10 km long, this easy trail takes between 3 and 4 hours to complete, and is accessible to all levels of walker.
From the port of Kercabellec, where the oyster farmers are busy, take the yellow-marked path to the salt marshes of the Mès basin. As you walk along the main path, you’ll pass through several marshes and hedgerows, where a rich ecosystem flourishes.
Then cross Quimiac to reach the large beach at Lanséria. From here, follow the coastal path, the famous “sentier des douaniers” (GR34), which is only accessible on foot. Continue on to Pointe de Beaulieu, then Pointe du Toulru. Continuing along the seafront, you pass the Cabonnais beach and reach the Sorlock point, followed by another beach. At each point, staircases cut into the rock allow you to descend onto the sand, then pick up the trail again.
After the last beach, you’ve reached your destination: Pointe de Merquel! Enjoy a superb view from this outcrop in the sea, and watch the ballet of migratory birds from the observatory.
